I remember the farm was along the end of a country road, quiet enough for us to all ride our bikes without me fearing the children would die under a car’s wheels. It would give us a tremendous sense of freedom, only steps away from our village and we would be in the country; with just birdsong and the click of wheels; catching the sweet scent of strawberries and straw carried by the breeze across the fields.
We would reach the farm, fresh faced, as the lane was a steady climb, park our bikes near the rickety fence and feed the mallard ducks in the pond our hard dry bread. We would laugh as they bobbed about with their bottoms in the air as they fished out the weed from the lake bed. When the bread had been eaten, and the last disappointed duck waddled away we would slowly walk our bikes up the gravel path passing the smithy on our way. We could never walk past without leaning in on the stable door, peering at the arrangement of metal, forge and tools, the cobwebs gently floating in the breeze brought to mind ghosts from the past.
The barn was an impressive entrance to the farm, we locked our bikes under the huge oak tree, and made our way through the entrance to be greeted by the odd hen or two, scratching in the dust at some unknown worm or other. The Farm museum was just like time had stood still, the whitewashed farmhouse was separated from us by the yard filled with cows, pigs and sheep. It seemed to reflect an earlier age, a gentler age when people kept chickens and had fresh eggs each day. This would be a small holder’s delight, and my dream.
Had friends over for a games evening, it was great fun! I must say that when I looked around it was so great to have the people I am closest to all in one room. It was a great evening, fantastic fun and finished around 1.30 am!!! Some of my friends were up for more, but I was really tired! It is one of my friends birthday on Wed, but she hates her birthday! I think it all goes back to the fact that when we are children we are really made a fuss of, parties etc yet when we grow up we have to face disappointment year on year! Last year I was forty, and I think I have finally solved the problem, just enjoy every birthday and have fun, forget getting older and all the emotional baggage with it.
Bought some fantastic books today with the remainder of my book tokens,
This book is so inspiring! I love the ideas, I am always looking for ways to personalise my own clothes. I just can’t wait to make some of the beautiful things I love the felt flowers and the coursages. Will have to post some of my attempts!
Bought a load of different magazines for the pupils to vote on the ones they want to stock in the Library, but I could not beleive the NME, I read a couple of articles and there were a couple of them were really disgusting! This singer was so foul and obsene I was really disappointed! What is wrong with people that they have to be really offensive to get their point accross! It is a shame because I really want to have something in the Library about music!
Not feeling too good today, L had some sort of bug last week, used up all my medicine so that when I came down with it I had to tramp to Town to get some more, being a Sunday all the local pharmacies were closed! Nursing myself on the sofa, with my hot wheat bag on my tummy. Hopefully will be better soon! In the meantime I am drinking some firery ginger beer. Strangely it does make me feel much better I am sure ginger is good for you.
We all have things happen in life that affect us for good or bad, however, what we fail to realise is just how much control we have about the way we feel. Happiness is just a state of mind, it is something we can choose!
There is a saying life is 10% what happens to us and 90% of how we react. I beleive that, and we can choose to see a situation in a way that makes us happy!
Here is an example, if we are out shopping we can look around at people and feel unhappy, no-one is smiling and every one is grumpy, including the shop assistants. However, if, whenever you catch someone’s eye you smile, it has a wonderful transforming effect. Count how many people’s expressions change from grumpy to happy just by smiling at them!
It is the same for how we feel about our relationships. If we consider that we aren’t welcome or aknowledged at work, we will beleive that and our body language and thinking will not only seek to project that thought but also seek out evidence to support this. However, likewise the same will be true of positive thoughts. Try it, see if it changes your world! Once you beleive that the world is positive all round you, it will make you feel positive!
all the best

Well it is the start of the New Year, and I thought I would spend some time looking at where I was this time last year! What a difference! This time last year my job was just sucking all the self esteem out of me! Not only did I have to wear trousers and huge cover up tops, but working with these difficult boys was so awful I realise it now. The negativity just seemed to pull me down.
Now this year I feel great, I am being myself totally girlie!!! Beleive it or not I am called Miss Stylish at work now! I love dressing up for work and I love my job! What a difference a year makes!
What would I like to do in the next year? Well I would like to write and get something published!! Even if it is just a magazine! I also bought Paul McKenna’s I can make you rich so I am now open to more earning opportunities!
Here we go!
Happy New Year
